HELLON BEATRICE BOBBITT PERRY, 90, of 440 Powell Street, Henderson, NC, died Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 475 Powell Street. She was born January 27, 1923 in Zebulon, NC.
She attended Henderson Institute and was a master seamstress and tailor. She and her late husband Samuel Buster Perry opened Bilt-Rite Shoe Repair on Montgomery Street in Henderson. She was known as the only female shoe maker in the state.
Funeral service will be held at 12 noon Saturday at Holy Temple United Holy Church with Pastor Rev. Dr. Roosevelt Alston officiating. Interment will follow in Blacknall Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters: Emily Oliver (Jesse) of Patterson, NJ and Helene Todman (Ronald) of Henderson, NC; three sisters: Tessie Vaughan of Henderson, NC, Evelyn Gilmore of Durham, NC, Catherine Allen of Brandy Wine, MD; two brothers: David Bobbitt of South Hill, VA, Bernard Bobbitt of Oxford, NC; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchildren.
Viewing will be held at the funeral home from 12 noon to 6:00 pm Friday and at the church one hour prior to the service.
