Obituary for Hattie B. Jones Hill

Hattie Beatrice Jones Hill was born in Warren County, North Carolina on February 6, 1928 to the late Sarah Brown Jones and Nathan Jones. She departed this life on November 19, 2019 at Kerr Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Henderson, North Carolina. 

Hattie received her education in the Vance County public school system.  
She met and was later married to Walter Lee Alston of North Carolina for a short time, during this union they had one daughter, Annie Alston Allen. 

Hattie left North Carolina at a young age and moved to New York where she held various domestic jobs until she began working in the restaurant business. She later retired after 25 years of service. 

She continued her life caring for four children and doing light duty work, taking care of her family and friends. She truly had a passion for giving whatever she could in order to help someone in need. She loved to cook and bake pies for everyone, and everyone always looked forward to it. She will truly be missed. 

In addition to her parents, Hattie was preceded in death by one sister, Lily Ruth and three brothers: Robert Lee Jones, Clarence Jones and Johnny Jones. 

She leaves to cherish so many precious memories: two daughters: Francis Tarry, Annie Allen; two sons: Walter C. Jones (Asia) and Rodger Lee Jones (Felicia); 17 grandchildren, over 20 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. 

A memorial service will be held at 3 pm, Saturday, November 23, 2019 at greater Union Grove United Church of Christ, 511 Parham Street, Henderson, NC. There will be no public viewing.
