Obituary for Charles Linberg Horner

Cheif Master Sergeant (CMSgt) Charles Linberg Horner, son of the late Rosa and Samuel Horner was born on July 23, 1931 in Franklin County, NC. As a young man, he was baptized in Henderson NC. He departed this life on Thursday, February 28,2019.

Charles left Henderson at the age of 20 and proceeded to travel the world for 30 years while employed with the United States Air Force. His military tours included time in both Korea and Vietnam. He retired in 1981 after a distinguished career of serving his country and touching the lives of numerous colleagues and friends that he met along the way.

Charles leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of almost 59 years, Willie Mae Kingsberry, his loving sister, Bernice Patterson, three sons; Alphonso Rey Horner (Martinette), Charles Anthony Horner, Earl Yancy (Betty), two daughters; Sylvia Dee Horner, Sharon Elizabeth Horner Williams (Robert); nine grandchildren, Lamar, Terry, Robert Jr., Brittany, Brian, Amaya, Chandler, Earl Jr., Earlene, nine great-grandchildren; Jeremiah, Leilani, Evan, Kennia, Nek, Kenny, Ty, Shakya, Shayla. He also leaves behind to celebrate his life, mother in law, Edith Kingsberry, devotednieces and nephew; Patricia Brown, Dorothy Pittman, Gina Robinson, William Taylor, Jr., beloved brother and sister in laws; Rodney (Jeanette), Cleveland (Adele), Bobby (Gwen), Andrew (Louise), constant friend; Tommie Lee Williams, Jr., and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He impacted the lives of many demonstrating genuine love and compassion for his fellow man wherever he happened to be. We are richer for his presence in our lives and he will be sorely missed.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, March 9 at E. M. Rollins Elementary School. Interment will follow in Sunset Gardens with Military Honors.
Viewing will be from noon to 6 pm, Friday, March 8 in the funeral home chapel and at the school prior to the service.

The family is receiving friends at the residence. Arrangements are by Davis-Royster Funeral Service.
